Lin An Tai Mansion | 林安泰古厝

Lin An Tai Residence 林安泰古厝

Lin An Tai Residence 林安泰古厝 was built roughly 200 years ago during the Qing Dynasty. This is one of the oldest houses to survive in Taipei today. It underwent restoration after being relocated to Xinsheng Park 新生公園 and officially reopened to the public in the year 2000.

The house was built by a scholar by the name of Lin An-Tai and was used to house family members he brought over from China. The architecture was based on the Chinese elements of fengshui.

The residence itself consists of several wings and gardens, overseeing a lake with green lily pads, where you can wander around freely and take pictures.

With historical Chinese roofs and red bricks, this house is sure to delight history buffs. The entire courtyard is made in southern Fujianese-style.

When I was there, I noticed that many brides and grooms were making their way to the residence to take pictures for their big day.

Entrance is free, though note that the place is typically closed on National Holidays. If taking public transportation, you can get off at Yuanshan 圓山 MRT Station and walk roughly 20-30 min.
